Unidentified assailants kidnaped dozens of civilian local nationals near Damari, Sabuwa Local Government Area (LGA), Katsina State, at around 20:00-21:00 Feb. 1. The victims, mostly women, were escorting a bride. Reports indicate that 30 to 55 people have been kidnapped, and three responding security operatives killed. Armed bandits are likely responsible. There has been no reported ransom demand made as of writing.

Authorities will likely maintain a heightened security presence in the area over the coming days and conduct operations to apprehend the attackers and rescue the abductees. Security forces may establish roadblocks and checkpoints, and search vehicles along the nearby roads. Armed clashes involving kidnappers and security forces cannot be ruled out.
